Harmonic Tremor
A volcano observatory's seismometer feed, slowed until the ground's low shudder becomes a sustained tone you can hear rather than read off a chart.
The signal arrives as a line on a chart, which is a way of not hearing it. Played back at a speed the ear can meet, the tremor holds one pitch for minutes at a time and then bends, slowly, without ever announcing that it has.
